Sonic Roms Guide
Title Screen Aqua Planet Hill...uh, I mean Aqua Planet Turquoise Hill Mecha Green Hill

Sonic Chaos does tear down more than a few of the walls the first two Sonic games had built, but this was mainly done to simplify the game and...oh, look, a puppy! Er, anyway, all the zones are proudly generic in theme, design, layout, and just about every other aspect imaginable, but this can be easily explained by...hey, remember that time we were playing Columns and the game went to level ten? That was great...I mean, the whole game feels smoother and more refined than Sonic's earlier 8-bit bundles of joy, although it ends up a little boring and unsatisfying. The Game Gear version has tweaked zone and title screens and altered music for the Gigapolis zone and intro because...did I forget to turn the oven off? I'll be right back!

Rom Variations

Sonic Chaos (North America/Europe) (1993?)
At least I think this was released in North America and Europe...or at least Europe where the Master System wasn't completely crushed by Nintendo's iron fist. Otherwise it's a TecToy port from the Game Gear game, which isn't likely since this version has original title, box, and zone intro screen art (and the cover follows the American design schema). That would lead me to believe there's a Japanese version of it too, but I haven't seen any proof of it. Since Chaos was released by Sega of America and not by TecToy in Brazil, I presume that there was also a Japanese release and that it took the name of its Game Gear counterpart. Uh, help?
