Knuckles' Chaotix, not choosing to endorse any particular person in its Japanese title of Chaotix, was originally conceived of as a Genesis game featuring Sonic and Tails before it was redesigned with a new roster headed by Knuckles and ported to the ill fated 32x for reasons unknown (likely because Sega didn't feel it was worthy of Sonic's name, and then they needed a strong title for the 32x...). It's rather solid and about uncontested as the best game on the platform, although it doesn't quite stack up to Sonic and Knuckles' Genesis performances. Too bad...we're pulling for you, Knux. That "Sonic Blast" project that's coming up could be your big break. Hang in there.

Rom Variations

Knuckles' Chaotix (North America/Japan)
Monkeys are funny. There aren't any monkeys in Chaotix, though. There's a crocodile and bee, which is kind of close. Monkeys are stinky, so maybe it's better this way. This is the NTSC version...

Knuckles' Chaotix (Europe)
...and this is the PAL version. It's a bit odd to see a "North America/Japan" rom and Europe all by itself, isn't it? Submit to our divine will, comrades!

Sonic Crackers (Alpha Version) UNCONFIRMED (1994)
This is either the alpha version of Knuckles Chaotix or simply a test rom designed to try out a few new concepts. Either way, it is not an early build of some planned "Sonic the Hedgehog 4." That's just dumb, a lot like yo mama. You heard me.
